Classic Lashes Example

Classic Lashes

Classic Lashes can provide both depth, curl, and length for an enhanced, yet natural look. Classic Lashes are achieved by placing one classic extension on each of your natural lashes. A consultation will be be provided before a full set service in order to determine the style, length, and curl of the lashes. This will ensure that the extensions will suit your eye shape and lash strength. Please allow up to 2 hours for a classic full set.

Hybrid Lashes Example

Hybrid Lashes

As the name suggests, hybrid extensions are a perfect blend of both classic extensions and volume fans. These are normally placed in alternating fashion; one classic extension, one volume fan etc. These can result in a look that is a bit darker and fuller than a classic set, yet still very natural in appearance. A consultation will be provided prior to your full set to determine the style, length, curl, and fan dimensions used. This will ensure that the extensions suit your eye shape and lash strength. Please allow up to 2 hours for Hybrid full set.

Volume lashes example

Volume Lashes

Volume extensions are achieved by placing a “lash fan” on each of your natural lashes. Fans can contain anywhere from three, to upwards of ten lightweight lashes. Volume extensions result in a darker fluffier and more voluminous lash look. A consultation will be provided prior to your full set to determine the style, length, curl, and dimension of the fans used. This will ensure that the extensions will suit your eye shape and lash strength. Please allow up to 2.5 hours for a volume full set.

Lash Lift & Tint

Uses a perming process to lift and curl your lashes upwards, giving the illusion of longer fuller lashes! The overall result of a lash lift (with tint) should look like curled lashes with mascara! If you have light colored lashes, we recommend pairing the lash lift with a lash tint! This service lasts 6-8 weeks making lifts a perfect low maintenance alternative to lash extensions. Add depth and definition to your lashes with a tint! We carry various colors for the ability to customize the color to match your natural shade, or deepen it. Tints last up to 4 weeks.

We pay particular attention to conserving as many of your natural lashes as possible and use an incredibly gentle adhesive remover to remove any extensions you have.

Frequently Asked Lash Questions

New to lash extensions or looking to learn more about what they entail? We do our best to answer the most commonly asked questions here, but feel free to contact us with any additional questions!

  • How should I prepare for my lash appointment?

Please arrive with no makeup on your eyes and be prepared to be on the table for up to 2.5 hours. Once the eye pads and tape are on, eyes must remain closed until the end of the service. Feel free to bring photos of your desired lash look, keeping in mind results can vary based on the strength, length, and density of your natural lashes. We will do our best to match your goal!

  • Can I get lashes for a one time event or vacation?

You can certainly book a full set for a one time special event or vacation. Keep in mind that between weeks 1 and 2 post-appointment, your lashes will begin to shed and grow out. Between week 3 and 4 they should be removed professionally to protect the integrity of your natural lashes due to the weight that a grown out lash can place on the natural lash.  If it is not feasible to keep up with the maintenance of extensions, It is often more cost effective and practical to use strip lashes or lash clusters for a special event as these can be removed yourself.

  • It is week 2 or 3 and my lashes still look good! Do I really need a fill?

Yes, it is still recommended to come in for your fill at the suggested interval because oftentimes you cannot see that despite having many lashes left, many lashes that remain will be grown out. This is something that is only usually visible to your lash tech. Grown out lashes can place disproportionate weight on the ends of your lashes, causing the natural lash to twist, bend or break. These lashes need to be removed and replaced during a fill.

  • I lost all of my lashes before my fill! What do I do?

This can sometimes happen for a variety of reasons. Extensions can be temperamental and some of the causes of premature shedding range from improper home care to naturally fast lash growth, to needing to switch up adhesives. At Jem Beauty Bar, we will work with you to get to the root of the cause of premature shedding and resolving the issue. If your lashes are shedding too much within the first 72 hours, we will provide a complimentary fill to resolve the issue. If it has been longer than that and you think you will require additional time during your fill, please give notice so that we can give your lashes the attention they need.

  • How do I take care of my lash extensions?

To maximize retention, it is imperative that you use a Lash Cleanser or “Lash Bath” daily. Lash Bath removes oils, dead skin and makeup buildup that gets trapped in between the extension and natural lash. Once this buildup exists, it becomes impossible to place new extensions on top of natural lashes. Lash Bath promotes retention and protects your eyes from infection. Additionally refrain from the use of mascara, or pencil upper lid liner as these will ruin your lashes and cannot be adequately removed with a lash bath. Never use a cleanser on your lashes that is not designated specifically for lash extensions. Refrain from the use of oils or emollient skincare products around the eye area, picking at your lashes, and sleeping on your face. Strong heat from dishwashers, ovens, campfires, or lighting cigarettes can singe or melt the tips of your lashes. It is acceptable to get lashes wet even within 24 hours, but please use your lash bath to clean lashes after swimming or sweating. After cleansing lashes, once dried, gently brush lashes and do not excessively brush during the day other than to put them into place as needed.

  • Why don't my lashes look exactly like the inspiration photo?

Jem Beauty Bar strives to match your desired lash look as closely as possible. However, due to the variance in any given person’s natural lash length, strength and density, there can be a variation in the end result from one person to the next, even if the same lashes were used. There can also be limits to how long or dense your extensions can be applied while maintaining the integrity of your natural lash.

  • What if I have an allergy to the lash adhesive?

For some clients, ingredients in the adhesive can trigger sensitivities or allergies. If you are sensitive, you may notice your eyes itch slightly right after application but this usually resolves within 24 hours. An allergy can develop at any time, even if you weren't previously allergic. If you are allergic, you may notice stinging, itching, or swelling that does not resolve after 24 hours. In these cases, professional removal is necessary to protect your eyes.

  • Can lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

As long as you are keeping on top of your fill appointments, maintaining proper aftercare at home and lashes are applied correctly by isolating one lash at a time, extensions will not cause damage. You may notice your natural lashes attached to an extension that has shed. This is perfectly healthy and expected, as human beings shed and regrow a full new set of lashes every 6-8 weeks. When a natural lashes growth cycle is over, it sheds and takes the extension with it. Some may misunderstand this as extensions pulling their lashes out. This is because we don’t tend to notice the shedding on natural lashes because they are so small, we notice this process more when an extension is attached because it is much more visible. If you desire, your lash artist can recommend professional  lash strengthening serums that are compatible with lash extensions to support your lash health.

  • I got my full lash set somewhere else. Can I get my fills at Jem Beauty Bar?

“Foreign Fills” are risky because combining products and adhesives used by different lash artists could cause adverse reactions. For the safety of your eyes, we will of course allow you to book a full set of lashes after a professional removal, which we can also provide.

  • It's been over 3 weeks. Can I still come in for a fill?

In rare instances, it will be acceptable to come in for a “Partial Set” between weeks 3 and 4. Price will be determined on the state of your lashes. After 4 weeks, a new full set is always required.

  • Does a lash lift damage your lashes?

Because a lash lift is a chemical process (perm), it is not recommended to receive this service any sooner than 6 weeks after your last lift. Humans grow a full new set of natural lashes every 6-8 weeks, which is why If you stay on a 6-8 week schedule, you will be working on new lashes every time, ensuring that we never process the same lash more than once.

  • Can I get my lashes wet after a lash lift or lash extensions?

Lash adhesives and lifting products have come a long way over the years, and while it was once suggested not to get the lashes wet afterwards, we are happy to tell you all products that we use are safe to get wet, even within 24 hours.  Just make sure if you swim or sweat, you use your lash cleanser, and give them a good brush once dried!
